Kekhrie Yhome is co-founder and a trustee of the Kohima Institute. Born and brought up in Kohima, he is a PhD candidate in contemporary continental European thought on language ontology and temporality at Jawaharlal Nehru University, where he also obtained an MA in English and Linguistics, and an MPhil in Semiotics. He served as a Junior Teacher (1996-98) at the community-sponsored Khedi Baptist School, Kohima Village, and subsequently as Headmaster (2003-05). In between he also taught at Baptist College, and been a lecturer in the English Department at Nagaland University. A human rights activist focusing on issues related to genetic recourse and environmental concerns, he ran a weekly column for the Morung Express, and was Assistant Professor in English at University of Delhi. His forthcoming book Writing the North-East (of India): Three Essays (2017), is a seminal study on regionalised and territorialised geoscapes and poetics.
