Dr. Achan Mungleng



Achan Mungleng is a versatile scholar with a background in peace activism, institution building, and research. She conducted extensive research on women's issues as an affiliate of the United National Historical Research and the Institute of Social Sciences (2003); engaged in sustainable development research in 2006 as an affiliate of RCSD, Chiang Mai University, Thailand; and has a long association with contemporary Burma on issues of diaspora, working from both Delhi (India) and Chiang Mai (Thailand). Between 2007-2012, she set up the Euro Burma Office, New Delhi, and served as its South Asia Coordinator. She is an ANFREL International observer and has participated in Nepal elections (2008 & 2013) and the 2009 Afghanistan Presidential election. Since 2006, she has been Advisor, Peace Education Resource Centre (PERC), New Delhi. She holds a Ph.D in Social Anthropology from the University of Delhi, which she achieved having done post-graduate work in Anthropology at Miranda House, New Delhi. She was previously a Junior and Senior Research Fellow, University Grants Commission and is a Life Member of Indian Anthropological Association. Dr. Achan was born in Shirui Village, Ukhrul District, Manipur.
